Andrew Tan, Urban Mirage (URBAN 2026)

I took this photo while walking through West Melbourne in the late afternoon. As I passed a vacant office block, I noticed how the building’s front window was acting like a reflective surface, showing the parked cars and street behind me. At the same time, the setting sun was shining straight through the empty office interior, creating a strong beam of light. On the brick building across the way, the sun cast a large tree shadow that lined up neatly within the frame of the window. The combination of the reflection, the shadow, and the light inside the empty office created a layered scene that didn’t quite match what was physically there. It felt like a moment where different parts of the street briefly overlapped, so I stopped and photographed it before the light moved.
