Ian Carson, Tidal Abstraction (LANDSCAPE 2025)
With the graphic nature of the rounded rocks, their reflections and the purple and green hues of the seaweed and moss I couldn't look away from this scene as our ferry pulled in to the base of Sgurr na Stri - a mountain I was to climb the following day, a mountain which was part of the wall of the magma chamber of an ancient volcano which would have towered 6000m above our landing spot! The pure abstraction of the image was its draw for me - ancient volcanic forms making such a strong visual statement so far from their inception. It was quite a surreal experience.
