Kym McDowell, The Idyllic Industrial Landscape (URBAN 2026)
The Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station (UK) stands quiet. Another casualty of our ever-changing industrial impact on the landscape. Looming in a place changed by centuries of habitation and environmental control, how does time change our view of the waterways that were once the heart of industry in this country? How does this contrast with our view of the blight that is a coal power station, that powered life for millions of residents for over fifty years? Which is more worthy of the position of "romanticised relic of a bygone era"?
