Ian Carson, Thús Abhaile (Homeward Bound) (LANDSCAPE 2025)
This image represents a very poignant moment of my Scotland trip for me. I had just spent 3 wonderful days and nights hiking in the hills of the Isle of Harris - a pristine Scottish wilderness of outstanding beauty. I felt like the island had really welcomed me into its arms and I had been very sad to leave. I had taken the ferry back to Uig on the west cost of the Isle of Skye and still feeling the loss of leaving Harris had decided to climb down the cliffs at Rubha Hunish and camp on the peninsula there. After I set up camp (and had a nice afternoon nap!) I awoke to this amazing sunset and the Harris ferry ploughing its way back to the island. Oh, how I wanted to be on that ferry for, if I lived on the island, I would be travelling homeward bound. Once again this is as seen by the camera - no push of colour and especially none of those fake sunbeams. This shot is as it was presented to me. Note: The Gaelic title is pronounced "Toos Awaulya"
