Paula Walland, Soul of the Kimberleys (LANDSCAPE 2025)

As I journeyed through the Kimberley region of Western Australia, this scene drew me in, encapsulating the profound isolation that defines the landscape. The dry foliage, scattered boabs still dormant from winter and rock formations all painted a portrait of a harsh, untamed wilderness. The complete absence of human presence underscored just how remote this place truly is. The overcast sky added to the stillness, while a solitary boab tree stood as a silent sentinel as it framed the Cockburn Ranges, its soul embodying the solitude of the land.
