PETER BARRIEN, Once We Lived, Now We Stand (LANDSCAPE 2023)
When I saw these sentinels standing starkly in this barren place in the Fleurieu foothills, I felt a strong sense of loss for what once was, and a fear for what may come. I had to capture their essence. This image speaks to the impact of European settlement on our land, and future impact on our local environment as the climate changes and bushfires become more destructive.
