Stefan Eberhard, Mt Wedge, Southwest Tasmania (LANDSCAPE 2025)
This view of Mt Wedge in the Southwest Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area was taken from the shoulder of Mt Anne looking northwest across the buttongrass plains of Sandfly Creek and the headwaters of the Huon River. In the far distance is the jagged profile of the Prince of Wales Range and Frenchmans Cap extreme right edge. This 850nm infrared image was taken in the evening on 9th February 2025 when the golden-hour colours were intensified by thick smoke haze from the extensive wildfires on the northwest coast at the time. Interestingly the smoke haze is invisible in infrared. [Important note for competition judges. The metadata for this image records the date of this image as 1st Jan 2018 however this is incorrect. The date is incorrect because after I had my Sony a7iii camera converted for infrared the date setting always reverts to factory reset every time I switch the camera on/off. I got tired of re-setting the date every time I switch the camera on, hence the incorrect date on this image. I sincerely declare that this image was taken on 9th February 2025 and can provide proof in the form of an iphone image taken at the same location at about the same time.]
