Situated in the Waikite Valley, near Rotarua, this is one of the area's smaller lakes, but one of the prettiest. Formed by a volcanic eruption some 700 years ago, it is close to 25m at its deepest point, covers an area of about 21ha and is surrounded by 15ha of scenic reserves and wetlands.
