Ian Carson, Glencoe Gloaming (LANDSCAPE 2025)

This shot was taken towards the very end of very long day of driving. I had battled across the highlands on my way to Glenfinnan and as I came out of the Glencoe Valley the sun was setting across the lake and behind the hills throwing a silvery light into a roiling sky. I knew as soon as I saw it I had to get the shot so I deposited the campervan at the side of the road, grabbed the camera, and ran the 500m to the water's edge to capture this panorama. I only managed to get three pans of the scene before the light was gone. I love this shot with the dark skies and highlighted focus in the distance. The colours here are as they were on the night - I have not pushed them at all - just a perfect moment of blue hour lighting.
