Clifford Ford, Coastal Contrasts - Wadjemup (Rottnest Island) (AERIAL 2026)
Once part of ther mainland, Wadjemup's deep and enduring significance continues with Noongar stories of Mammung, the Whale and of sea level rise (after the last glacial maximum) drowning the old dunes and shaping the ruggard headlands, treacherous reefs and tranquil bays which inspired admiration, caution and curiosity of early European explorers. Bathurst Lighthouse, in the foreground warns seafarers of the danger while the Indian Ocean stretches away and beyond. Today this magical coastal environment is appreciated by tourist and holiday makers.
