Jerusha McDowell, By The River (LANDSCAPE 2025)
The traditions of mountain horsemanship are etched in Australian-folklore, Though numbers are dwindling, there are still those for whom the mountains are a way of life. This image is part of and ongoing project that explores a world beyond the comfort and complexity of modern life documenting a vanishing legacy of horsemanship in the vast and beautiful landscapes of Australia’s high-country. Captured beside Rocky Valley Creek, at the bottom of the 1000m decent on the Spion Kopje Track. The quiet rituals of quart pot tea offering a welcome moment of rest ahead of the equally steep climb ahead of us.
