Robin Yong, A Japanese picture scroll 一枚の絵 (LANDSCAPE 2025)

A farm field in Hokkaido is being used as a feeding crown / sanctuary for cranes during winter. A scene during a snowstorm 31st December 2024. On this day, Japan's northern region cancelled dozens of flights Tuesday as millions of families were returning to spend the New Year holidays with loved ones. Japan Airlines alone scrapped 42 flights altogether. Usually, snow storms mean wonderful photo opportunities. I was disappointed to miss out on previous photo opportunites during snowstorms in New York, Tokyo and Kyoto, preferring to stay indoors instead, only to see other photographers exhibit great work. This time, I took the car out and headed for the snowy farmlands. The snowfall was heavy but the scene was magical, just like a Japanese scroll painting.
