This dramatic seascape captures a lone rock fisherman on the treacherous NSW coastline, symbolising unyielding human resolve against the ocean’s relentless fury. Shot with a Nikon Z8 and ND filter for a deliberate 6-second long exposure to silk the crashing waves into a menacing swirl, the fisherman remains sharp only because I patiently waited for moments when he stood perfectly still in focused anticipation – a challenge as he was constantly moving. Post-processing heightens contrast and cool tones to amplify the tension between man and nature, honouring the raw courage and quiet determination of traditional Australian rock fishing.
