Vanessa Haines, Thorsmork (LANDSCAPE 2026)
This past year I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Iceland, being able to see this magnificent landscape was truly beyond words and is far more jaw dropping in person than in photos. This photograph was taken of a place called Thorsmork. An iconic picture of Icelands incredible landscape. Thorsmork is tucked away far inland, where there are no roads and its all off road trucking, driving through streams of rivers between towering mountains, in the photograph could can also see the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and glacier that erupted in 2010, on my tour of this incredible landscape I was fortunate enough to visit where it erupted. While editing this photo I went fro a little bit of a painterly effect through increasing the noise reduction, to try and capture a more otherworldly even unnatural like feel, that this place doesn't exist because I myself couldn't believe that it truly did exist, and wanted to capture that feeling for the viewer.
