Craig Ford, The Floating Torii Gates of Tara (SEASCAPE 2026)
Tara is a small fishing village nestled along the shores of the Ariake Sea in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. A torii is a traditional Japanese gate most commonly found at the entrance of or within a Shinto shrine, where it symbolically marks the transition from the ordinary world to the sacred or divine. The seascape in this location is punctuated by these beautiful red torii gates while the horizon is characterised by an abundance of fishing poles and aquaculture nets, highlighting the importance of the ocean to the people of this area.
