Morgan Jackson, The Beach, Impermanent. (SEASCAPE 2026)

How do you faithfully capture an image of something that is always moving, always changing? Something that can have a different form, different shape, different light every time you see it? I decided to try and capture the colours, the shapes, and the structure of the beach. In this photo, which uses Intentional Camera Movement, I wanted to show the warm yellow of the sand, and the two different forms of blue and white from the deeper ocean with its crisp, breaking waves, and the paler sky with its soft clouds. No matter which beach you are on, when you gaze over the ocean you will see these layers before you. The frenetic feeling of motion was an unexpected bonus that, while uncomfortable to look at, I feel more accurately captures the energy of the scene - after all, neither static images of waves nor long-exposed blurred shots convey the true feeling of motion and raw power found in the waves.
