On the west coast of the outer hebridean Isle of Lewis, the salt water of the North Atlantic washes on Shawbost beach, the sand and rock bar holds back the freshwater of Loch A'Bhailea, a boundary between the rough and the smooth, the salt and fresh and the wild and the tamed.
