Julie Spencer, Peace and the Populous (AERIAL 2024)

A symbol of peace resides atop the densely populated urban sprawl of Sapporo, Japan. Built in 1959, the Peace Pagoda commemorates peace following World War II. One might consider Sapporo uncomfortably crowded, however, cultural norms contribute to managing its high population density in a way that feels organised and efficient rather than chaotic.
