The distinction between subject and background faded as this wreckage became a feature of the landscape, trapped in the stillness of the rocks ahead and the mountains behind. The scene turns expressionistic as the disgraced and frail sailboat is obscured by stormy clouds, while on the horizon, the robust cargo ships float calmly in the golden reflections of a clearer sky.
