Emma Coombes, Golden Beech Road (LANDSCAPE 2026)

Tasmania’s only native deciduous tree, Nothofagus gunnii, stands in full autumn glow, lighting a path through the wilderness. Known locally as “tanglefoot,” these ancient alpine beeches transform the forest into a tunnel of gold, where fallen leaves, moss-covered stones and twisted branches create a sense of quiet enchantment. The scene evokes a fairy-tale landscape, an opportunity to step into a rare and fleeting seasonal moment found nowhere else in Australia.
