Peter Ogden, CEDAR BRUSH CREEK (LANDSCAPE 2026)

Easter 2025 - the weather forecast would have given Mordor a run for its money…but we went camping anyway. Cedar Brush Creek, near Yarramalong in the Central Coast hinterland, is tucked away from the world. Deep valleys and rocky ridges are its trademark, and kangaroos, deer, wombats and lyrebirds call it home. We had some fine weather for a few hours each day, usually at dawn and dusk, so I had to make the most of these brief windows around the rain and thunderstorms. After wading through the tall, wet grass to grab this image, I discovered that leeches also call the valley home... But what’s a few bloodsuckers when you have light like this? I just love the way the stalks of grass are bending under the weight of the morning dew…
